Head Coach: Craig Jones

  

Craig is a life member who has been Head Coach of the Unley Swimming Club since 1999, with Silver and Gold Open Water Swimming level accreditation.  With extensive success as a competitive swimmer in pool, surf, open water and triathlons, Craig has steered the club successfully with numerous State and National championships in all four disciplines. As a result, he has been awarded South Australian Surf Life Saving Coach of the year, recognised with a Coaching Merit Award from Swimming SA as well as South Australian Open Water Swimming Coach. 

His coaching philosophy is built upon passing his knowledge, enthusiasm and passion onto swimmers and developing each individual’s talent to its fullest potential.  In addition to his coaching he is current undertaking an Exercise and Sports Science degree.

 

Assistant Coach: Annabel Lampard

Annabel has been a member of Unley Swimming Club for ten years where she has competed in the pool at both a state and national level. Annabel became the breaststroke and butterfly assistant coach in late 2015, where she has drawn on years of competitive pool swimming experience to coach many junior swimmers to achieve state qualifying times. 

She has a passion for helping younger swimmers achieve their goals and is enthusiastic and positive in her approach. Annabel is a bronze licensed coach, in addition to her coaching she has also completed a Bachelor of Human Movement from the University of South Australia and is currently studying a Masters in Secondary Teaching. 

  

Assistant Coach: Abbey Jones

Abbey joined the Unley Swimming Club in 2007 and at the end of the 2016/17 season was awarded Life Membership of the Club for her ten years of swimming service to the Club. Abbey has been coaching since 2016 and is a Bronze Licenced Coach, specialising in freestyle and backstroke. Moreover, she is currently studying to be an accredited clinical exercise physiologist.

She is a predominant open water swimmer and has won gold in either the 5km or the 10km events for 5 years in a row. Abbey has also represented the State at the NSW State Open Water Championships where she won gold in the 10km event. She has also competed at several National Open Water Championships and has placed 5th in 2014 and 2015 and 4th in 2016 in the 10km event. 

Furthermore, she has completed the Rottnest Channel Swim (19.7km) twice as a duo and placed second each time. In Surf Lifesaving, she has represented the State 7 times and has won numerous gold medals within the State in the surf race, iron-woman and board events as well as team events. In the pool, she has won medals in backstroke events at State Championships.

 

Assistant Coach: Jack Tierney

Jack Tierney is a professional long course triathlete that has been  involved in swimming and surf lifesaving since a young age. Jack has swum with Unley for several years and is a qualified Junior swim coach, swim instructor and level one triathlon coach. Being involved in triathlon for many years, he has a strong interest in developing freestyle and open water swimmers for competition. Having also  previously competed as a pool swimmer for several years, he has an interest in developing junior swimmers to compete at local swim meets.
